Local Wildlife

Are there seals in Harrison Lake?! You bet. Seals follow the salmon up from the Fraser River and are often seen from a kayak or canoe. If you're lucky you can see one from shore early in the morning.

Eagles are often seen on the road to the hot springs and past the sewage treatment plant (hum, I wonder why).

Blue herons are common in the Miami River that runs through town.

October is a great time to watch the salmon spawning, especially at Green Point. Green Point is a ten minute drive along the east side of the lake (follow Lillooet St. out of town). Green Point is also a great place to go for a picnic and the water is warm enough for swimming. The drive out to Green Point is winding and steep making it very scenic.

Bears are sometimes seen on the trail along the base of Bear Mountain, and the Bridal Trail that winds its way to McPherson Rd. They are usually there in April but, have been spotted in the summer months as well.
